Lappo Aiti, 53, of Kailua-Kona died April 10 at Hospice’s Nakamaru Hale. Born on Jan. 5, 1962, in Ailuk, Marshall Islands, he was a maintenance man. Richard Arthur Jaentsch, 87, of Hilo died April 7 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Oct. 19, 1927, in Milton, Wash., he was a retired seaman for the U.S. Coast Guard and later joined the U.S. Army during WWII, was an amateur radio operator, small airplane pilot and Harley motorcycle rider, and was retired from Chevron Company and refinery of Honolulu as a lead plant man and saftey inspector of the Ewalei division, then moved to Keaukaha Hawaiian Homestead. Celebration of life at noon Friday, May 29, at Onekahakaha Beach Park. Survived by wife, Mabel Kealaula Kailihou Jaentsch of Keaukaha; son Phillip (Arlene) L. Jaentsch of Kona; daughters Jacqueline L. U. Jaentsch of Hilo, Donnalyn N. Kalei of Hilo and Debra A. L. (Donald) Leopoldo of Hilo; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a cousin. Samuel Haruto Baranaba Kanekoa, 43, died April 10 at Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston, W.Va. Born on the Big Island, he was a skilled artisan of Hawaiian crafts, a longtime performer and hula instructor and founded Chief Kamu’s Fire and Hula Show. Family and friends are invited to his celebration of life on Saturday, May 2, at Kukuihaele Park; casual attire. Visitation at 10 a.m., services at noon, with celebration to follow.
